Burning alive of six Pakistani lawyers termed NAKED TERRORISM
The recent burning alive of lawyers in Karachi has shaken the entire nation. The event has been reported widely as clashes between rival groups. However the Daily Times has reported the incident as such: “The incident at Tahir Plaza, the beating of lawyers at the city courts and damage to their property were acts of naked terrorism and not part of a clash between two groups of lawyers as was largely misreported by the media, lawyers have held.”
Lawyers in Pakistan have been demanding the reinstatement of the judiciary. However if this were to happen it could mean Musharraf gets booted out since his appointment as President would likely be termed “unconstitutional.”
Anger against staunch Musharraf supporters, the Mutahhada Qaumi Movement (MQM), has sky-rocketed in the country. The leader of the MQM, Altaf Hussein, resigned from his post and then took back his resignation within 60 minutes. This is his fourth attempted resignation since January 2007. In an attempt to add drama to the grim situation, he has offered his unconditional friendship to rival Nawaz Sharif and has even said that he is willing to join the Pakistan Muslim League (PML -N.)
Meanwhile Musharraf enjoyed his trip to China as self-appointed leader of Pakistan.
The nation is in mourning over the deaths of its lawyers.
